so i got the idea to take this photo because last night while i was sleeping my dog started barking and going crazy like she normally does when someone comes near the house. of course i get up grab my mag light and go out there to investigate....i know probably not the smartest idea.

next time i need to remember that in the movies, the one who goes out to investigate always gets killed first.

I have always admired photojournalist who go into war torn countries, natural disasters, or whatever other crazy situation is thrown at them all for the sole purpose of getting that one shot. That one shot that may end up on the cover of time magazine or may end up representing an entire era like the famous Eddie Adams execution photo from vietnam. You never know how much one photo might say without the limits of language barriers or even cultural differences.

the photo above is from a series from readers digest called The Longest War. It is a series of photos taken by various photographers in Afghanistan which this month has become the longest military conflict in U.S. History. take a little time to go through the slide show of photos, there is some really powerful stuff in there.

i saw this guy sitting on reading what looked like to be some sort of flyer or short reader. i walked around for about an hour and he was there the whole. it looked like he hadnt moved and inch from the time i took the photo to the time i left.

so in honor of texas independence day i decided to go with a texas theme'd photo today. i was trying to think of all the things that represent the state. so boots and bullets are what came to my mind,

if you cant tell by now, i love texas.

its wild when you think about how fast technology evolves these days. I remember getting my first cd burner over 12 years ago. it was about 700 dollars and wrote at a crazy fast speed of 1x. everything is getting smaller and faster who knows what technology is gonna look like in another 10 to 15 years. its pretty exciting to think about.

hats off to any of you that work in the industry and continue to push the limits.
